Southeast Los Angeles County community
La Mirada's cultural and recreational facilities serve the broader southeast Los Angeles County region, including a 1,251-seat performing arts center established in 1977.

La Mirada operates multiple regional facilities that draw visitors from across southeast Los Angeles County. The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, located at 14900 La Mirada Boulevard, opened in 1977 and has welcomed more than 8 million patrons since its opening. The 1,251-seat venue hosts a Broadway series featuring award-winning plays and musicals, concerts and special events, and children's programming. The theatre is also home to the La Mirada Symphony and has produced numerous plays and musicals that have gone on to national and international tours.
Beyond the theatre, the city operates the Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center as a regional water facility, along with parks including Neff Park and community activity centers. These resources reflect La Mirada's role as a community-focused city—a motto the city officially embraces is "Live work play," capturing how residents and visitors engage with the city's neighborhoods and amenities.
The people who live and work in La Mirada depend on these community spaces and on each other.
