No-exam life insurance

Fast underwriting options, who qualifies, the approval timeline, and what takes place if you don't fit the accelerated criteria.

Today, accelerated underwriting is available from many carriers: for applicants within specific age brackets and benefit sizes, they make decisions based on what you report, your prescription records, your driving history and other information sources, bypassing the paramedical exam. Some approvals happen within a single day. Every quote displayed here notes whether an exam is needed, might be needed, or typically isn't required for each specific product.

What it changes

Accelerated underwriting doesn't eliminate the underwriting process itself. Your stated facts get checked, and if a policy was sold based on false information, it can be challenged within the first 24 months. The company may still order an exam or tests if their own investigation finds reason to do so—you'll have the option to continue or stop at that point.

Who tends to qualify

The typical cutoff is around 60 years old, applying for benefits within the carrier's no-exam thresholds, without serious health issues and without using tobacco for a year or longer. If you've recently been to a doctor and had blood work, several carriers will substitute that data for their standard exam.

Should an exam be necessary, anticipate a 20 to 40-minute session conducted by a paramedical technician, either at your residence or workplace in the La Mirada area, at no charge to you. For many people in good health, the exam outcome actually improves their underwriting class and premium, so it's not necessarily a drawback.
